An oil and gas development and production company, Whitecap owns oil-producing assets located on a handful of properties in western Canada. Its core assets include Valhalla North in the Peace River Arch area of northwestern Alberta and Pembina in west central Alberta; other assets are located in southern and west central Saskatchewan.  The company went public upon completing a reverse takeover of Spitfire Energy. The takeover and other acquisitions, such as that of Compass Petroleum and Spry Energy in 2011, have contributed to the company’s rapid growth in recent years. The addition of Spry Energy and Compass’ oil assets drove Whitecap’s daily production up nearly 300% in 2011 from 2010 levels. Likewise, the company’s revenues spiked during that time from $26 million to $137 million, fueled by increased production and higher realized prices for crude oil and NGLs.
